Hyundai Solar Lighting Towers Land in Australia

Hyundai Solar Lighting Towers Land in Australia

The first range of Hyundai HYLT600 Solar Lighting Towers have landed at Genelite, bringing a new clean-energy lighting option to Australian construction, civil, mining, industrial and hire operations.

Designed to provide reliable worksite illumination without a diesel engine, the HYLT600 combines high-output LED lighting with solar charging, LiFePO4 battery storage and a heavy-duty galvanised trailer. The result is a lighting tower built for long overnight operation, reduced maintenance and quieter worksites, with no exhaust emissions.

For hire companies and contractors looking to reduce fuel consumption without compromising on performance, these units will be ideal.

Built for the way Australian worksites operate

Lighting towers often spend long hours operating in remote, exposed or noise-sensitive locations. On traditional diesel-powered units, that can mean ongoing fuel costs, engine servicing, refuelling logistics and constant noise throughout the night.

The Hyundai HYLT600 takes a greener approach. Its three 450W monocrystalline solar panels charge a 10kWh LiFePO4 battery system, which supplies power to four 150W LED lights. With no combustion engine running, the tower operates silently and produces no engine exhaust emissions at the point of use.

This makes it particularly well suited to applications such as:

The absence of an engine also removes many of the routine service items associated with diesel lighting towers. There is no engine oil, fuel filter or regular refuelling requirement, helping operators reduce daily intervention and simplify fleet maintenance.

Reliable light through the night

At the centre of the HYLT600 are four 150W LED lamps producing a combined luminous output of 64,000 lumens. Mounted on a 7.5-metre telescopic mast, the lights can illuminate a broad work area from a practical operating height.

The mast uses an electric lifting system, allowing it to be raised and lowered without a manual winch. A wind rating of up to 100km/h, together with four manual stabilisation legs, helps provide a stable working platform once the unit is correctly positioned and deployed.

The 10kWh LiFePO4 battery provides up to 19.2 hours of runtime, depending on operating conditions and load. With an approximate solar charge time of nine hours under suitable conditions, the system is designed to collect ample energy throughout the day.

Victron power electronics and system monitoring provide visibility over system performance, providing fleet operators visibility on the charging and battery status and allowing them to manage their equipment with greater confidence.

A practical addition to modern hire fleets

For equipment hire companies, alternative-energy equipment needs to do more than support sustainability targets. It must be durable, straightforward to transport and easy for customers to operate.

The HYLT600 is mounted on a hot-dip galvanised, single-axle trailer built to Australian requirements. It incorporates a 50mm ball towing hitch rated to 2,000kg, electric brakes, spring suspension and 215/75R15LT tyres. The tower can be moved by a towing vehicle and is designed to accommodate truck, crane or forklift handling when required.

An integrated security camera adds another useful capability for remote or unattended sites, while the solar-battery powertrain can help hire businesses offer customers an alternative to conventional diesel equipment.

For the end user, the benefits are easy to understand:

For fleet owners, these advantages can support lower operating overheads and reduced service requirements across the equipment’s working life. Actual savings will depend on utilisation, site conditions and the diesel equipment being replaced, but the potential becomes increasingly significant on high-hour or frequently deployed units.

Supporting cleaner and quieter project sites

Construction and industrial businesses are under growing pressure to reduce fuel consumption, noise and local emissions while maintaining productivity. Solar lighting towers offer a practical way to make progress in these areas without changing the fundamental way a site operates.

They can also solve immediate operational problems. Silent operation is valuable near residential areas, hospitals, accommodation, events and crews working in close proximity to equipment. Eliminating on-site refuelling can reduce logistical demands in remote locations, while battery-powered lighting helps avoid unnecessary engine idling through the night.

This is where the HYLT600 makes the strongest case: it is not sustainability for its own sake. It is useful worksite equipment designed to deliver reliable light while removing many of the costs and inconveniences associated with an engine-driven tower.

Available and in stock now at Genelite

The Hyundai HYLT600 Solar Lighting Towers are available from both Brisbane and Perth, giving Australian hire companies, contractors and project operators the opportunity to bring this technology into their fleets and worksites.

As the Australian distributor for Hyundai Power and Lighting Equipment, Genelite Onsite Energy provides local product knowledge, sales support and after-sales backup. With more than 30 years of experience in power equipment, the Genelite team understands that reliable equipment must be supported throughout its working life, not simply delivered to site.

These first units are expected to attract interest from businesses looking to trial solar lighting, expand an existing clean-energy fleet or offer customers a quieter alternative to diesel-powered site lighting.
